Re: F1 carp are set to be Britain's most popular coarse fish species
This sounds very good fish to me as its only my second year and only caught my first carp the start of this year, i've had three since with a pb of 10lb 4oz tho i find it vary slow sometimes. I fine myself with one or two rods on bite alarms then reaching for my float rod for the roach. Like both but the sound of packing the two in to one the action of the roach and the fight of the carp and (all year round!!!!!!!!!!) well tell me where i can find them in yorkshire and ill be their. Everything has to move forward sometimes we get it right and sometime we get it wrong we are only human. But me as a novice i think this is one of them times when we got it right (i may be wrong im only a novice) love the site lads you've got it right here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: F1 carp are set to be Britain's most popular coarse fish species
Thing is Mick carp will feed all year round but only if there is a steady supply of bait going into the chosen water.
Carp burn off a lot of there fat reserves whilst searching for food in the colder months so tend to hibernate in deeper water where there is a warmer layer compared to the main body of water and preserve there body fat. Now if there is a constant supply of food mainly a protein based pellet or boilie or anything which takes there fancie if were honest they will keep feeding because they can top up there body fats.
So mick if you want to fish all year round what i would suggest is pick a water you want to get to know more fish it as normal and throw in your bait in key locations making sure no one see's you of course (last thing you want is some c**t fishing onto of all your hard work) and keep doing this everytime you fish there and come the colder months fish them spots and that should produce you a fish or two

Re: F1 carp are set to be Britain's most popular coarse fish species
.......... Why would anyone want to go catch silly F1's all day when theres roach, perch, pike, bream, tench, barbel and chub?Even if one day it becomes impossible to have carp in this country cause of disease, F1's will never be the most popular fish.

no body know we will just have to see, the reson i like the sound of it is the thought of bagging loads in a day with a good poundage to go with it. When you fish for roach you can have lots of them but the weight is not their. For the rest(perch/pike/)ect it can be slow(not all the time tho) saying that the roach cross can get big(dont know how big)nongobye had a lot out of their.

Fishing is not all about going to a commercial and filling a keepnet. F1's are a problem in themselves. They are expensive, cant breed and do not live long. Therefore stocks have to be maintained constantly and i'd like to so who would cater for the deman, if more and more waters start to stock them.

They are not carp...... They are a Hybrid. A cross between Common carp and Crucian carp. Stick to it...... Id sooner catch a 2lb roach, 2lb perch, 5lb chub any day over these things. All they are is a 'scientific development' in the world of commercial fisheries, because of their immunity to KHV. I've caught loads of em' and i just cant see what the appeal is in them at all, apart from the fact that they are immune to KHV. They are finicky feeders, dont grow big, dont live as long and they will never replace carp.
