I do like this one
Martin Ford is an apologist for a practice that is dependent on cruelty to animals. Catching a fish to eat is understandable; catching a fish just to throw it back and catch it again is unreasonable.

Re: benson dead
just seen a good 5 minute report on the bbc world news saying it was defo bad angling that killed the fish due to unprepared nuts, what a gutter.

Re: benson dead
Just feel sad... again this is down to the instant Big fishing that is available now-a-days...
I feel like it was different for me.. starting in the 70's and 80's amazed to catch a fish of a lb....
fishing for different species.. learning baits and tactics etc..
but now a days the info is readily at hand, magazines, web sites and even people talking to you on the bank..!!
but most of all this is just poor as there are now available most particles fully prepared..
The problem is that fisheries will look at their stocked fish and the worry is that people wont be able to get near lifetime fish as they will all be syndicated (and part of me agrees with this for fish care..)
I know that good late 40's are in excess of £10k to replace .. but there's more to it than that... we need to all be vigilent and if we see male practice then speak up or at least let the fisheries know...
and if there is something you are unsure of, then ask and learn before putting our favoured quarry at risk...
but then I suppose the type of ignorant Ass's responsible for this are NOT the type that you would find on a forum like this.
Peace and Love..

Re: benson dead
I have read most of the articles andwatched most available on the internet and it seems there was lots of raw tigers scattered around... however I read this and it just made me smile..
Benson, carp, born 1984, died 2009. Leaves behind numerous widows, thousands of offspring and 60-odd lovelorn captors.

But anglers, such as Martin Ford, editor of magazine group Angling Publications, say fish like Benson, who are caught often, actually choose to take the bait, knowing it's on the end of a hook.
why don't them 20's choose mine
